berbel celebrates the opening of a new logistics facility

Rheine, 17 June 2016 – Managing Director Peter Ahlmer opened the new berbel logistics centre this morning, together with the mayor of Rheine, Dr. Peter Lüttmann, Werner Stegemann (Wirtschaftsvereinigung Steinfurt e.V.), the representatives of the regional economic promotion organisation Dr. Manfred Jansen and Thomas Knur (EWG Rheine mbH) and the leading architect graduate engineer Ulrich Borowski. Guests to the event included the Managing Director and partner of the Swiss parent company WESCO AG, Erling Boller and Beat Ernst.

“One of our goals and key to our future success is to strengthen our headquarters in Rheine and to secure jobs in the region,” explains graduate engineer Peter Ahler before the gathered guests and the berbel staff. To ensure that the company will remain competitive in the future, a new logistics centre with a size of around 5,200 square metres was built on the company premises in Rheine, within just under 6 months. This contributes greatly to the capacity of goods transport and in view of future growth, it allows for daily delivery of berbel extractor hoods to the customers to be maintained. The company berbel Ablufttechnik GmbH has been based in this region for more than 15 years. All berbel extractor hoods are made in Germany and are developed, tested, assembled, and packaged at the factory in Rheine, Westphalia, and then delivered and exported throughout the world. With completion of the new logistics centre, production and storage space at the company premises have now been extended to a total of 6,000 square metres. Storage capacity has thus been increased to a total of 2,730 pallet bays. berbel continues to invest in the premises to be able to healthily face the future and an ongoing expansion strategy. Future-oriented planning and favourable structural conditions allowed for the warehouse area to be expanded without any problems.

The mayor Dr. Peter Lüttmann said in his welcoming address: “With berbel Ablufttechnik GmbH, Rheine is home to a truly excellent company. By opening this new logistics facility, berbel is making a clear and future-oriented commitment to Rheine! berbel Ablufttechnik really provides a fresh breeze for our town!”

Peter Ahlmer replied as follows: “I am proud of our growing success and the corresponding expansion of our premises in Rheine.” In his speech he found very personal words to thank the audience. “All of us have worked together tirelessly to make berbel a success. Some of you have been with us from the start and were able to witness our development from a few container offices in the warehouse next door, through to today’s opening of the new logistics centre. Rapid growth like this does not happen by accident and it requires great dedication of everyone involved.”
